ARTESIA COMMUNITY THEATRE      2003 - 2004

First up on the calendar will be the "official" final production of the 2002-2003 season - the melodrama!  August 22 - 22, 2003 in the courtyard of the First United Methodist Church at 6:30 pm each evening.

The opening production of our 2003-2004 season will be the comedy When Bullfrogs Sing Opera!  This delightful play, written by Carl Williams of Houston, will be presented September 12-14, 18-20 and is directed by Kristen Seeley.  Productions will be held in the AAC Center for the Arts - 510 W. Main, Artesia.

What do you do when you are climbing the social ladder in leaps and bounds and your countryfied sister from the Waller decides to pay a visit?  Well, you convince everyone that she is a world renown character actress immersing herself in a new, extremely unsophisticated role, of course!

Coming in November is Do Not Go Gentle.  Lillian Boedecker Barron is 84 years old, vibrant, funny, wise, and recently deceased!  Windsor, her estranged son is a colonel in the Air Force and Kelly, the granddaughter with whom she shared a special bond, come from overseas to settle Lillian's affairs.

November 15, 16, 20, 21, 22 & 23 2003 are the dates for poignant dramedy.

To start the new year, we will celebrate past performances and future endeavors with an evening of fun - the ACT Gala!  Mark your calendars on January 3rd as an evening to dress up, go out and celebrate the gloriousness of theater!  The theme, along with other details, will be announced at a later date, but mark the date now so you won't miss out!
February is the time for Mardi Gras!  And it is also the time for ACT's bi-annual dinner theatre presentation of Murder, Mystery & Mardi Gras.  Good Help Is So Hard To Murder finds Delilah, convinced that the maid "knows too much", conspiring with her younger sister to commit murder.  Throw in visits from a psychic, the Grim Reaper, the police and the recitations of their sarcastic parrot, and you are sure to have loads of fun!  Directed by Laura Holder, performances will be February 12, 13, 14 and 15 at the Artesia Country Club.
The final full-length production of the season will be Grace and Glorie, scheduled for April 16-18, 22-25, 2004.  Set in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Grace, a feisty 90-year-old cancer patient, has checked herself out of the hospital and returned to her beloved homestead cottage.  Glorie is the volunteer hospice worker, transplanted from New York.  This is a lovely story of what they give and learn from each other.  Director will be Reginia Garner.
In June, of course, we will present Brown Bag Theatre in Central Park to round out our season.  As always, these productions will be short, sweet and free to the public on the first three Wednesdays in June, and don't forget the evening encore presentation for those unable to make the noon performances.
