The opening production of our 2005-2006 season will be An Eerie Evening with the ACT – a mélange of one act plays with a taste of Halloween about them.

All a little spooky, some a little edgy, and each with its own creepy twist, the evening includes “Lot 13: The Bone Violin”, actors perform as if directed as a string quartet to tell of a young violin prodigy’s shocking fate; “Wildwood Park” follows a neurotic real-estate agent as she shows a house filled with unspeakable secrets to a potential buyer, “Language of Angels” tells of a teenage girl lost in a cave on the edge of a small town in North Carolina, and “Beyond the Door” will keep you on the edge of your seat as a murderer, fleeing from the police, wanders into an old house inhabited by two spinsters.   What really happened to the young boy and where did the Bone Violin come from?  Why does the potential buyer harbor an almost insatiable thirst for tabloid atrocities?  What are the details of the girl’s disappearance?  And who is waiting just beyond that locked door?

The answers will be revealed (or will they?) October 13, 15, 20, 21 & 22 at 7:30 pm and October 16 at 2:00 pm.

To start 2006, we will once again celebrate past performances and future endeavors with an evening of fun – the ACT Gala!  Mark your calendars for January 7 and plan to dress up, go and celebrate the gloriousness of theatre!  We’re planning to make the evening a musical extravaganza you won’t soon forget!

February is the time for Mardi Gras!  And it is once again time for ACT’s bi-annual dinner theatre presentation of Murder, Mystery & Mardi Gras.  February 16-19 are the dates, the Artesia Country Club will be the place.  Play to be announced.

The final full-length production of the season, “Birds of a Feather”, is scheduled for May 5-7, 11-13.  Armed with a sharply judgmental attitude and a pair of binoculars, homeowner Leona Crump is consumed with anxiety over her new neighbors.  Her worst fears are realized when an odd-ball “hill-folk” family moves in across the street and she must battle to save her homey little cul-de-sac.  Will Leona be victorious?  Maybe, maybe not – it all depends on her weedeater!

In June, of course, we will present Brown Bag Theatre to round out our season.  These productions are at noon - short, sweet and free to the public on the first three Wednesdays in June, with an evening encore presentation the Thursday following the last noon performance for those unable to make the noon performances.

At the present time, all productions, unless noted, are scheduled for the Ocotillo Performing Arts Center, 310 W. Main.  As most of you are aware, the Ocotillo’s renovation may soon go into high gear.  In the event this occurs before the season ends, alternate sites will be procured for the productions and these changes will be amply advertised.

Please watch for future information concerning ACT’s productions and the progress of our renovation efforts!
